Motorists encouraged to slow down on Illawarra Highway at Tullimbar
30 October 2015
Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra and South Coast, and Member for Kiama Gareth Ward has today advised local motorists across the region to slow down on the Illawarra Highway at Tullimbar with a 60 km/h speed limit extended to include a new roundabout at the Yellow Rock Road intersection.
Mr Ward said that a speed zone review was carried out due to recent development in the area, with the new speed zone taking effect in early November.
“After recent approval of a new roundabout in the area, Roads and Maritime determined the roundabout and reduced speed limit was a safe way to manage access requirements to the new development,” he said.
“Extending the 60 km/h zone will provide a safer intersection as traffic near the new development increases over time.
“The new speed zone will come into effect from Friday 6th November.
“Signs will be in place ahead of the change to inform motorists of the changed speed limit.
“Members of the community can sign up at the Safer Roads NSW website to receive updates about changes to permanent speed limits in their nominated area and to have a say on speed limits,” Mr Ward concluded.
