Investigation work starts on Parramatta Road and Great North Road, Five Dock
Roads and Maritime Services is starting investigation work this week on a project to ease traffic congestion at the Parramatta Road and Great North Road intersection, Five Dock.
John Sidoti MP, Member for Drummoyne said the work was part of the NSW Government’s $246 million Pinch Point Program, which targets peak hour traffic hot spots.
“The work aims to help inform the development and design of dual right turn lanes from Parramatta Road into Great North Road, which aims to ease traffic pressure for commuters.
“The work to be carried out on Parramatta Road between Croydon Road and Northcote Street and Great North Road between Parramatta Road and Harrabrook Avenue involves excavating small sections of the road, surveying and electronic detection of underground utilities, to inform the detailed design of the project.
“Work will be carried out between 8pm and 5am on two night shifts between Tuesday 8 December and Wednesday 16 December, weather permitting.”
Roads and Maritime will make every effort to minimise the impact of noise, maintain access for local residents and motorists and ensure the safety of workers and road users.
Motorists should plan their trip, allow extra travel time and follow the direction of traffic controllers, reduced speed limits and all signs.
Roads and Maritime thanks motorists for their patience while this important road investigation work is carried out. For the latest traffic information, visit www.livetraffic.com, download the Live Traffic App or call the Transport Management Centre on 132 701.
