Changed traffic conditions for night work on Barrengarry Mountain
14 December 2015
Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra and South Coast, and Member for Kiama Gareth Ward has today advised local motorists across the region of changed traffic conditions on Moss Vale Road at Barrengarry Mountain this week as the final stages of road repairs are carried out after heavy rain caused a landslip earlier this year.
Mr Ward said that work will be carried out between 7pm and 4am from tomorrow Tuesday 15th December to Thursday 17th December and involves laying asphalt and applying stabilising concrete to areas of rock face.
“One lane of the road will remain open but motorists may experience delays while asphalt work is carried out on both sides of the road,” he said.
“Motorists are advised to plan their journey and follow the direction of traffic control.
“Vehicles longer than 14 metres are not able to use Moss Vale Road as they are unable to safely pass through the single lane conditions in place.
“Signs remain in place warning of the length limit, alternate routes and changed traffic conditions,” Mr Ward said.
“An alternate route for long vehicles is via Picton Road and the M1 Princes Motorway or the Illawarra Highway via Macquarie Pass.
“I certainly thank local motorists across the region for their patience whilst this important work is being carried out,” Mr Ward concluded.
