Gwydir Highway widening west of Collarenebri
6 October 2015
Roads and Maritime Services has recently completed work to widen almost six kilometres of the Gwydir Highway west of Collarenebri at Warrambool, Member for Barwon, Kevin Humphries said today.
Mr Humphries said the $2.7 million NSW Government funded project would improve safety for all motorists. The completion of the six kilometre section marks the completion of stage two of three stages of work.
The next stage of work is scheduled to be carried out mid to late next year.
“During stage two works, Roads and Maritime Services widened the highway to provide a one metre sealed shoulder and carried out improvements to drainage in the area,” Mr Humphries said.
“This important upgrade, combined with the $700,000 first stage completed in June, has improved more than 10 kilometres of the Gwydir Highway.”
The work was carried out by Walgett Shire Council on behalf of Roads and Maritime.
Roads and Maritime Services thanks motorists for their patience during this important road improvement work.
