Work to start on Gin Gin Bridge
28 January 2016
Essential maintenance work will be carried out on Gin Gin Bridge north of Trangie to ensure the ongoing integrity of the structure.
The Member for Dubbo & Deputy Premier Troy Grant said the $300,000 project reflected Roads and Maritime Services’ commitment to providing safe, quality roads to connect communities in western NSW.
“Gin Gin Bridge is on Trangie-Collie Road about 17 kilometres north of Trangie and forms part of an important regional road corridor between Trangie, Gin Gin and Bundemar,” Mr Grant said.
“Essential maintenance work will be carried out on the bridge bearings to ensure the bridge remains safe for the community and to reduce future maintenance costs.
“Work will start on Saturday 6 February and be carried out for two weekends, weather permitting.
“Work hours will be from 7am to 6pm and during work the bridge will be closed to all motorists except emergency vehicles.
“All road users will be directed to use Wambianna Road via Warren which is a 35 kilometre detour on a sealed road surface, Warren Road via Narromine which is a 40 kilometre journey on a sealed road surface or Burroway Road via Narromine which is 45 kilometres on a sealed road.
“Traffic control will be in place to help direct motorists and road users should follow all directions and allow for extra travel time.
“Roads and Maritime thanks the community for their patience while the essential work is completed.”
