Work starts on Castlereagh Highway at Armatree
Friday 12 February 2016
Member for Barwon Kevin Humphries has announced maintenance work will start this week on the Castlereagh Highway at Armatree, about 30 kilometres north of Gilgandra.
Mr Humphries said the NSW Government has allocated $1.8 million for the project, aiming to provide a smoother road surface for motorists and to improve road safety.
“The road surface of this 3 kilometre section of the Castlereagh Highway is in poor condition and requires frequent maintenance at a high cost,” Mr Humphries said.
“Roads and Maritime Services will carry out the work, including widening of road shoulders and repairs to the road surface.”
Mr Humphries said work will be carried out on weekdays between 7am to 6pm and between 8am to 1pm on Saturdays, weather permitting.
“Traffic Control will be in place and motorists and the community will be advised about any changed traffic conditions or possible lane closures as work progresses.
“Work is expected to be completed in June this year, weather permitting.”
Roads and Maritime thanks the community for its patience while this important maintenance work is carried out.
