Work to improve Mount Ousley Road and Princes Highway roundabout to start in April
1 March 2016
Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra and South Coast Gareth Ward today announced that local motorists travelling eastbound on Mount Ousley Road will soon be able to turn right at the Princes Highway roundabout in both lanes with improvement work to be carried out in April.
Mr Ward said that the changes will be made to the roundabout at the Fairy Meadow intersection to improve journey times for motorists and reduce congestion.
“Motorists on Mount Ousley Road travelling towards Wollongong experience delays in the morning and afternoon peak,” he said.
“Roads and Maritime Services is investigating long term traffic improvements at this intersection and the proposal to change the roundabout to allow motorists to make a right turn move from two lanes as opposed to just one will reduce delays in the short term on Mount Ousley Road.
“In order to make the adjustment, there will be a slight change to the northbound right turn lanes from the Princes Highway to the retail precinct.
“The changes are planned to be implemented in the first week of April.
“Electronic message signs will be in place at least a fortnight in advance to advise motorists of the upcoming work.
“I will continue to keep local motorists informed of work dates and times and changed traffic conditions,” Mr Ward concluded.
