Feedback invited on noise wall proposal for Captain Cook Drive at Caringbah

3 February 2016

Feedback is being sought by Roads and Maritime Services on a proposal to build a noise wall on Captain Cook Drive at Caringbah to improve conditions for nearby residents.

The NSW Government allocated $2.1 million under the Noise Abatement Program to build a noise wall from Carabella Road to the end of Murrami Avenue.

The proposed noise wall would reduce the impact of traffic noise for local residents and help improve the amenity of nearby streets.

The noise wall will be located up to 2.5 metres from existing residential fences, which will allow access behind the wall for inspections, maintenance and equipment.

Building the noise wall requires removing and trimming vegetation on the western side of Captain Cook Drive.

Roads and Maritime will carry out an environmental impact assessment before any work starts and new vegetation would be planted once work on the noise wall is completed.

Comment on the proposed noise wall is required by Friday 26 February and can be e-mailed to nswenquiries@vbajv.com.au; or posted to Ventia Boral Amy Joint Venture, Communications and Stakeholder Engagement, PO Box 838 Rockdale NSW 2216.

All feedback will be considered and the community will be kept informed as the project progresses.
