Upgrade to Pacific Highway between Lisarow and Ourimbah starts
18 March 2016
Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast, Scot MacDonald MLC today announced major work will start next week to upgrade the Pacific Highway between Ourimbah Street at Lisarow and Glen Road at Ourimbah.
Mr MacDonald said the NSW Liberal National Government allocated $70 million to provide two lanes in each direction and install new traffic lights with pedestrian crossing facilities at the Ourimbah Street, Teralba Street and Walmsley Road intersections.
“The Pacific Highway is a major link between Gosford and Wyong and will improve safety, traffic and travel times for the 29,000 motorists using this 1.6 kilometre section of highway daily,” Mr MacDonald said.
“Civil Mining and Construction Pty Ltd was awarded the contract and will carry out the upgrade. It includes a shared pedestrian and cycle path on the western side of the highway and new bridges across Cut Rock Creek.”
“The first stage of work involves utility relocations, property adjustments, site office and compound establishment, installation of traffic barriers, vegetation clearing and general earth work.”
Mr MacDonald said work is scheduled to start on Monday 21 March and major work is expected to be completed in late 2018, weather permitting.
Work will be carried out weekdays between 7am and 6pm and between 8am and 1pm on Saturdays. Roads and Maritime Services will advise the community in advance if work is required outside these times.
Changed traffic conditions including lane closures and traffic control will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists.
Motorists should plan their trip, allow extra travel time and follow the direction of traffic control and all signs.
Roads and Maritime thanks the community for its patience while this essential upgrade is carried out.
