New lanes open at Boundary Road and Schofields Road intersection
11 April 2016
State Member for Riverstone, Kevin Conolly MP advises that a new section of Schofields Road is opening on 18 April. This is the latest progress in the $340 million Schofields Road upgrade. The new section is near the intersection of Boundary Road at Schofields.
“The NSW Government is funding this project to progressively upgrade Schofields Road to four lanes between Windsor and Richmond roads, improving commuter capacity along this key east-west corridor in Sydney’s north-west,” Mr Conolly said.
To prepare for the planned traffic switch, night work will be carried out from 8pm Friday 15 April to 5am Monday 18 April, weather permitting. Access to Boundary Road from Schofields Road will be temporarily closed to traffic while this essential work is carried out.
Detours will be in place for motorists via St Albans Road and Railway Terrace. Access to Gordon Road, off Boundary Road will be maintained while work is under way. The intersection of Schofields Farm Road and Schofields Road remains closed to traffic and is expected to re-open in June. Electronic message signs will advise motorists of the changed traffic conditions.
There will be some noise associated with this work, but every effort will be made to minimise the impact on residents.
To ensure the safety of workers, road users are advised to allow extra travel time, follow the direction of traffic controllers and keep to the reduced speed limits where in place.
With the region expected to expand by around 200,000 residents in the next 20-30 years, NSW Government is building roads now to increase traffic efficiency and reduce congestion for Sydney’s growing outer north-west.
The Schofields Road Upgrade project is expected to be completed in mid-2018, weather permitting.
