Safety to be improved on Princes Highway at West Wollongong
13 May 2016
Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra Gareth Ward has today announced that work will commence this Sunday to improve safety for motorists on the Princes Highway at West Wollongong.
Mr Ward said that the New South Wales Government allocated $650,000 funding to resurface all lanes of the highway between Mount Keira Road and London Drive.
“Work will be carried out to provide a safer road surface for motorists with new asphalt being laid,” he said.
“Work will be carried out between 9pm and 4am from Sunday 15th May to Wednesday 18th May, and on Sunday 22nd and Monday 23rd May, weather permitting.
“Residents of Highway Avenue are advised there will be restricted access between 10pm and 12am on Sunday 15th May while asphalt is laid across the entry to the road, while residents of Geards Avenue will also have restricted access when work takes place there between 10pm and 12am on Monday 16th May,” Mr Ward said.
“Southbound motorists will be able to travel through the work site while northbound motorists will be diverted via London Drive.
“Motorists are advised all on and off ramps connecting the Princes Motorway and Princes Highway at Figtree will be closed during work hours.
“A reduced speed limit of 40 km/h and traffic control will be in place for the safety of workers and local motorists,” Mr Ward concluded.
