Have your say on proposal for new overtaking lane on Old Northern Road, Maroota
Tuesday 24 May 2016
Community members are invited to provide feedback on a proposal to build a new overtaking lane on Old Northern Road, near Idlewild Road, Maroota.
Old Northern Road connects several rural communities in Sydney’s north west and is frequently used by slower moving goods transportation vehicles such as livestock trucks.
To improve safety for all road users, Roads and Maritime Services is proposing to install a new 750 metre long southbound overtaking lane starting north of Idlewild Road.
Member for Hawkesbury Dominic Perrottet said the NSW Government is working with The Hills Shire Council on the proposal, which aims to improve safety and traffic flow efficiency in the area.
“The NSW Government is committed to road safety, and we are working productively with local councils on proposals like this that aim to deliver safer roads and better traffic flows for the community,” Mr Perrottet said.
Work would include widening the western side of the road, realigning the lanes, relocating a gas main, asphalting and line marking.
The overtaking lane has been designed to avoid the heavily vegetated area on the eastern side of the road however some vegetation along the western side would be removed as part of the project.
Feedback can be submitted by Tuesday 7 June to delivery partner DownerMouchel at PO Box 6465 North Ryde NSW 2113 or email@example.com.
All feedback will be considered and the community will be kept informed as the project progresses.
