26 MAY 2016

Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter, Scot MacDonald MLC has announced work to improve safety for motorists on Kanangra Drive at Crangan Bay is now complete.

Mr MacDonald said the NSW Government provided a $1.844 million grant to Wyong Shire Council through the NSW Safer Roads Program to complete safety improvement work between the Pacific Highway and Summerland Road.

“In the five years to 31 December last year there were 33 crashes resulting in one fatality and 18 injuries on Kanangra Drive from west of the Pacific Highway at Crangan Bay to Orana Road at Gwandalan,” Mr MacDonald said.

“Work was carried out to improve safety for motorists by widening the travel lanes and road shoulders, resurface the road and install safety barriers, signs and guide posts.

“New line marking and reflective pavement markers were also installed.

“Upgrade work started in June last year and was carried out by the former Wyong Shire Council.”

Roads and Maritime Services and Council thank the community for its patience while work was carried out.
