3 June 2016
Michael Johnsen MP, Member for Upper Hunter today announced work starts this week to repair Gresford Road Bridge across Glendon Brook.
Mr Johnsen said the NSW Government funded $865,000 in natural disaster funding to Singleton Council for repairs to the bridge and approaches.
“Gresford Road Bridge has been closed to traffic since it was damaged in the devastating Hunter storms in April last year,” Mr Johnsen said.
“Our local residents at Singleton and Gresford will be pleased the site was established mid this week with work expected to start today Friday 3 June.
“Once the completed bridge is reopened to traffic, motorists will once again be able to travel on a direct route between Singleton and Gresford.”
“Singleton Council awarded the contract to repair the bridge to Diona Pty Ltd.”
Mr Johnsen said Diona civil engineering contractors will provide rock armour, backfill the bridge approaches and complete diversion work to the creek to protect the bridge from future flood events.
“Work is expected to be completed by the end of August this year, weather permitting,” Mr Johnsen said
