Come along and check your child restraint is fitted correctly and safely
13 July 2016
Grenfell parents and carers are being offered a free safety check for their child car seats on Monday 1 August 2016.
Member for Cootamundra, Katrina Hodgkinson said Roads and Maritime Services is providing a qualified specialist to carry out the checks at the Grenfell Public School hall in Sullivan Street grounds from 9 am – 12 pm.
“An unrestrained child can sustain devastating injuries in the event of a crash, or even sudden braking if a restraint is incorrectly fitted,” Katrina said.
“Despite the horrifying consequence, research shows two out of three child restraints are not being used properly.
“Common issues include loose straps and bolts and incorrectly fitted clips and restraints.
“The check will assess the safety and fit of the child’s car seat and make any changes to ensure it is offering the best protection in the event of a crash.
“Information will be available about the national child restraint laws, the types of restraints and advice on moving children from one restraint type to the next will be available.
To book a free child restraint check phone 02 6861 1681 or 02 6861 1487.
