New section of service road opens as part of $135 million Richmond Road upgrade
2 August 2016
Mr Kevin Conolly MP, Member for Riverstone, today announced traffic would be switched to a new section of service road off Garfield Road West as work progresses on the $135 million Richmond Road upgrade.
Mr Conolly said the upgrade involves duplicating Richmond Road to four lanes between Townson Road and Elara Boulevard.
“On Thursday, a section of the new service road will open to traffic off Garfield Road West alignment and when completed later this year will provide permanent access to the service station, Marsden Public School and Rural Fire Service station,” Mr Conolly said.
There will be some temporary traffic changes for traffic accessing the service station, Marsden Park Public School and Rural Fire Service station.
The bus bay for Marsden Park Public School will be moved onto the new service road and located temporarily in front of the school.
Access to the service station and Marsden Park Primary School will be via the newly built service road to the east of the current access to these properties.
“Motorists are advised follow the direction of traffic controllers and signs” said Mr Conolly.
A duplicated Richmond Road will cater for future traffic demand as more people choose to live in the North West.
Mr Conolly said the upgrade will improve traffic flow, cater for future traffic demand, provide improved facilities for pedestrians and cyclists and is on track for completion before the end of this year, weather permitting.
