Changed long weekend traffic conditions for Foxground and Berry bypass
29 September 2016
Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra and South Coast Gareth Ward has today announced changed traffic conditions on the Princes Highway for this long weekend to improve journey times and reduce congestion through the Foxground and Berry bypass project site.
Mr Ward said that the speed limit will increase to 80km/h on the Princes Highway from Toolijooa Road to Berry and from Berry to Hitchcocks Lane.
“Work will cease on the project from 6pm on Thursday 29 September and resume at 6am on Wednesday 5 October to ensure there is no impact to long weekend traffic. The existing 50km/h speed limit through Berry will remain in place,” he said.
“The 12.5 kilometre Foxground and Berry bypass continues to make excellent progress since the first sod was turned in January last year.
“Work is progressing on the new southbound lanes south of Berry after motorists were moved onto the new northbound lanes in early August,” Mr Ward said.
“This work has required the intersection of Victoria Street and the Princes Highway to close, with access to Victoria Street via Queen Street and local roads.
“The junction of Huntingdale Park Road and Kangaroo Valley Road is now closed to allow a new roundabout on Kangaroo Valley Road to be built, with access to Huntingdale Park Estate via Hitchcocks Lane.
“Motorists are also traveling on the new Kangaroo Valley Road Bridge.
“Work to excavate under Kangaroo Valley Road Bridge has started, in preparation for the new highway to be built,” Mr Ward concluded.
