Work continues on Cobb Highway upgrade at Eurella
14 February 2017
Kevin Humphries, Member for Barwon said today that work is continuing on the NSW Government funded $5.6 million Cobb Highway upgrade at Eurella, north of Ivanhoe.
“The work to upgrade the highway, about 30 kilometres north of Ivanhoe, started last October and is expected to be completed by mid this year.
“This section of the Cobb Highway cannot be accessed during wet weather because the road surface is unsealed.
“When it’s dry, the road becomes hazardous for road users due to reduced visibility from dust and corrugations on the road surface.
“This project will not only improve safety for all road users, but reduce ongoing maintenance costs and ensure the road can be accessed in all conditions, while also improving flood immunity.”
Kevin Humphries said the work being carried out includes filling and compaction of the new road surface.
“There are two crews working on site with a third crew due to start soon to speed up progress so the project can be completed by June this year, weather permitting.
“The temporary 11 kilometre road on the eastern side of the Cobb Highway is operational 24 hours a day and motorists are advised the speed limit is 60 km/h on this road.”
