Work starts on $380,000 project to upgrade section of O'Connell Road
10 MARCH 2017
Work will start on Monday to upgrade a section of O’Connell Road, 13 kilometres north of Oberon to improve safety for all road users.
Member for Bathurst Paul Toole said the NSW Government provided $380,000 for the project which involves upgrading a 900 metre section of the road at West Mayfield.
“This section of road has had poor pavement conditions and drainage issues in the past, so once the road surface has been removed, the pavement will be strengthened and the drainage will be improved before the road is resurfaced,” Mr Toole said.
“This project will reduce the cost of ongoing maintenance work and provide a safer road for all road users.”
Work will start on Monday 13 March and will be carried out on weekdays between 7am and 6pm and on Saturdays between 8am and 1pm, weather permitting.
Work is scheduled to be completed by mid-April.
For the safety of workers and motorists, lane closures and a reduced 40 km/h speed limit will be in place and may affect travel times.
Motorists are advised to follow the direction of traffic control and signs and keep to the reduced speed limits.
Roads and Maritime thanks motorists for their patience while this work is carried out.
