Drivers benefit from Hume Highway bypass at Albury

17 March 2017

Ten years after the Hume Highway bypass at Albury first opened to traffic figures show an average of around 44,000 people use the road each day.

Member for Albury, Greg Aplin said the bypass is this month celebrating a major milestone and announced Lend Lease will hand the road maintenance back to Roads and Maritime Services.

“The Hume Highway bypass between Albury and Wodonga has benefited countless motorists in the past ten years, with improved travel times between the major cities and greater safety.”

“Ten years on, maintenance of the bypass, as well as the responsibility of vegetation and infrastructure has been handed from Lend Lease back to Roads and Maritime Services.”

“Maintenance is an essential part of the operation of any road, especially a major thoroughfare like the Hume Highway bypass, to ensure the safety of the thousands of motorists who travel on it.”

“Lend Lease will continue to work closely with Roads and Maritime to ensure the handover period runs smoothly and that any outstanding work is completed during this time.”
