Safety improvement work starts on Wine Country Drive at Nulkaba
30 March 2017
Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Road, Maritime and Transport, Kevin Anderson MP has announced work will start next week to improve safety for motorists on Wine Country Drive at Nulkaba.
Mr Anderson said the NSW Government has allocated $2.8 million to install new drainage and provide a safer road surface from 200 metres south of Kerlew Street to Fletcher Street.
“For the safety of workers and motorists, changed traffic conditions will be in place including lane closures on Wine Country Drive which may affect travel times.
“Motorists are advised there will be temporary detours in place, which will operate 24 hours a day while work is carried out.”
Mr Anderson said the first closure will take place from Wednesday 5 to Thursday 13 April and will involve northbound motorists detouring via Kerlew, Occident and Austral streets.
“The second road closure will take place from Tuesday 18 to Friday 21 April and will involve northbound motorists detouring via Kerlew Street, Occident Street and O’Connors Road.”
Southbound motorists on Wine Country Drive will not be affected.
Work is expected to be complete by the end of June, weather permitting.
Motorists are advised to follow the direction of traffic control, signs and keep to the reduced speed limits.
Roads and Maritime Services thanks the community for its patience while work is carried out.
Cessnock City Council will complete the work on behalf of Roads and Maritime.
