Safety improved on the New England Highway at Whittingham
21 July 2017
Michael Johnsen MP, Member for Upper Hunter advises that road safety has been improved at the New England Highway intersection with Newington Lane at Whittingham with work now complete.
Mr. Johnsen said the NSW Government allocated $455,000 last financial year to widen the highway and provide a right turn lane into Newington Lane.
“This work will reduce the crash risk for vehicles turning into Newington Lane as motorists will no longer have to stop and wait in the through lane of the highway,” Mr. Johnsen said.
The road was widened to allow for the new right turn lane and new line marking was carried out.
“Roads and Maritime Services started the safety improvement work in May and completed the work this month,” Mr. Johnsen concluded.
Roads and Maritime thanks the community for its patience while these important road safety improvements were carried out.
