Safety improvements on Moss Vale Road at Cambewarra Mountain
Member for Kiama Gareth Ward has today announced that local motorists will soon benefit from slope repairs and maintenance on Moss Vale Road at Cambewarra Mountain.
Mr Ward said that the New South Wales Government has provided $400,000 funding to deliver this important repair work to improve safety for motorists between Kangaroo Valley Road and Cambewarra Lookout, also known as Tourist Road.
“Work will involve repairing the slope at three locations after storm damage as well as routine maintenance,” he said.
“Further slope repair work at Moss Vale Road on Barrengarry Mountain is expected to take place later in the year. Roads and Maritime Services will provide the community with details on this work once it has been scheduled.
“To minimise the impact of work on motorists and the community, work will be carried out at night for three weeks between Monday 14th August and Thursday 31st August, weather permitting.
“Moss Vale Road will be closed from Kangaroo Valley Road to Tourist Road, with detours in place, from 8pm to 5am on Monday 14th to Thursday 17th August, Sunday 20th to Thursday 24th August, and Sunday 27th to Thursday 31st August.
“Other changed traffic conditions include single lane closures outside work hours, during the day and on weekends, with traffic alternated through the site.
“Light vehicles will be detoured via Kangaroo Valley Road which will add about15 minutes travel time, while vehicles more than 7.5 metres or 12 tonnes will be detoured via the Illawarra Highway and Princes Highway, adding around 90 minutes of travel time.
“Motorists should plan their trip, allow extra travel time and follow the direction of traffic control and all signs, including detours in place,” Mr Ward concluded.
