$2.3 million upgrade work to start in October on Goldfields Way
9 October 2017
Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Roads, Freight and Transport, Kevin Anderson today announced the second stage of a major upgrade on Goldfields Way north of Temora would start this month.
Visiting the road today, Mr Anderson said the NSW Government provided $2.2 million this year for stage two of upgrade work on Goldfields Way, about 60 kilometres north of Temora.
“Stage one safety improvements were completed early this year and involved vegetation removal, new drainage and installation of a new road surface on a 2.8 kilometre section of road near a property called Oakover,” Mr Anderson said.
“The second stage of work will involve repairing the road surface on a 2.3 kilometre section to provide a safer journey for all motorists, extend the life of the road and reduce future maintenance costs.
“Work is due to start on Tuesday 3 October and will be carried out on weekdays between 7am and 6pm and on Saturdays between 8am and 1pm until the end of November, weather permitting.”
Mr Anderson said changed traffic conditions including lane closures will be in place during work for the safety of workers and motorists.
“Motorist should plan their trip, allow extra travel time and follow the direction of traffic control and all signs, including a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h during work hours, reverting to 80 km/h outside work hours,” he said.
“Roads and Maritime will make every effort to reduce the impact on road users and thanks the community for their patience while this important road improvement work is carried out.”
