Safety to be improved with speed limit changes on Heathcote Road, Holsworthy to Voyager point
19 December 2017
Motorists and residents are advised of changes to the speed limit along Heathcote Road between Holsworthy and Voyager Point later this month to improve safety for motorists.
Roads and Maritime Services carried out a speed zone review after requests from Melanie Gibbons MP and the local community.
“Roads and Maritime will be making changes to the speed limit along Heathcote Road between Holsworthy and Voyager Point after a number of serious crashes, including fatalities, at The Avenue intersection,” Ms Gibbons MP said.
“The safety of motorists is important to the NSW Government which is why steps are being taken to improve safety along this busy stretch of road.
“Roads and Maritime will reduce the existing 80 km/h speed limit on Heathcote Road to 60 km/h between 150 metres south of Macarthur Drive and 235 metres south of The Avenue at Voyager Point.”
Ms Gibbons MP said the reduced speed limit is expected to provide significant road safety benefits to the residents and road users in the area.
“The reduced speed limit was assessed on a number of factors including crash history, road geometry, road environment and traffic volumes.
The new speed limit signs are expected to be installed from Wednesday 20 December, weather permitting.
Motorists are reminded to drive to the speed limits at all times for the safety of all road users.”
Community members can sign up at the Safer Roads NSW website to receive updates about changes to permanent speed limits in their nominated area.
