25 January 2018

Member for Barwon, Kevin Humphries advised today that another 14.7 kilometres of the Cobb Highway will commence being sealed next week.

Motorists are advised changed traffic conditions will in place from next Monday for up to 18 months while work is carried out on the Cobb Highway, 130 kilometres north of Ivanhoe.

Roads and Maritime Services will be carrying out the work which will result in an additional 14.7 kilometres of the highway sealed.

Kevin Humphries said the NSW Government has invested more than $60 million to seal the Cobb and Silver City highways in the state’s west.

“Since 2015, the NSW Government has been progressively sealing and upgrading the Cobb and Silver City highways as part of a $60 million commitment from Restart NSW, the Western NSW Freight Productivity Program and state maintenance funding.

“The investment will see around 76 kilometres of the highways sealed, improving road access and safety for freight and motorists.

“Work will be carried out between 6am and 6pm Monday to Sunday, weather permitting.

“For the safety of workers and motorists, changed traffic conditions and single lane closures will be in place.

“Motorists should plan their trip, follow the direction of all signs and keep to the reduced speed limits of 80 km/h, 60 km/h or 40 km/h depending on the location,” Kevin Humphries said.

“Roads and Maritime thanks motorists for their patience during this important road upgrade work.”
