Free workshop for supervisors who teach learner drivers
13 February 2018
Michael Johnsen MP, Member for Upper Hunter is inviting parents and supervisors to attend a free workshop on how to provide effective and safe practice sessions for learner drivers.
Mr. Johnsen said the ‘Helping Learner Drivers Become Safer Drivers Workshop’ will be held at the Scone Council Administration Building 135 Liverpool Street in Scone, on Tuesday 20 February at 5:30pm.
“Parents and supervisors play a vital role in helping young drivers gain the skills and experience they need to be safe on the road,” Mr. Johnsen said.
“This course has been developed to help young people in the local area learn these skills with confidence and ultimately make the journey from an L to P plater safer for all road users.
“Parents and supervisors who have previously attended the course found it boosted their confidence and helped them better plan driving lessons, while also giving them the opportunity to share their experiences with other parents and supervisors,” said Mr. Johnsen.
The two-hour workshop includes information about licence conditions for learner and provisional drivers, tips for using the learner driver log book and the importance of providing constructive feedback.
“The course also reinforces the important role families play in providing ongoing support for young motorists in their early years of driving,” concluded Mr. Johnsen.
