23 February 2018

Roads and Maritime Services advises motorists Wymah Ferry, 45 kilometres east of Albury, will be removed from the Hume Weir on the Murray River on Thursday 1 March for a three week scheduled maintenance service.

The ferry service will be closed from Thursday 1 March and will reopen on Thursday 22 March 2018. Every effort will be made to reopen earlier, if possible.

Maintenance work will involve inspecting, servicing and replacing parts, as well as cleaning and painting.

This essential work ensures that the ferry meets government safety regulations, providing a safe and reliable service for ferry users.

Motorists will need to detour via Bethanga Bridge and Albury adding up to 1 hour to a journey or via Jingellic adding up to 1 hour 15 minutes to a journey.

Motorists should plan their trip, allow extra travel time and follow the direction of all signs.

Roads and Maritime thanks motorists for their patience while this important maintenance work is carried out.
