Planning accelerates for Berry to Bomaderry Princes Highway upgrade
23 March 2018
Member for Kiama Gareth Ward has today announced that a new online video has been released today to provide an update on early work for the Berry to Bomaderry Princes Highway upgrade.
Mr Ward said that the preparation work is progressing well and includes relocating utilities such as power poles, water and telecommunications.
“It may seem relatively simple, but it is important to carry out this work before major work starts, which is on track for mid-this year,” he said.
“Work to build a temporary protected right turn lane at the Princes Highway and Croziers Road intersection is also on track for completion this month, weather permitting.
“This new right turn lane will improve road safety and accessibility for motorists before major work on the 10.5 kilometre project starts,” he said.
Mr Ward said that the contractor to build the four lanes of new divided road is expected to be announced in coming weeks, signalling an important milestone.
“The Princes Highway is one of this region’s busiest and most important roads and it will be great to soon see the shovels in the ground.
“The upgrade will improve safety and traffic flow, deliver more reliable journeys, increase overtaking opportunities and cater to future growth.
“Before the upgrade starts, community members are encouraged to view this new online video to learn more about the project and progress to date,” Mr Ward said.
The video and a Q&A booklet are available on the website at: www.rms.nsw.gov.au/bbu. The community will be kept informed as the project progresses.
