Work progresses on Schofields Road upgrade
13 April 2018
Member for Riverstone, Kevin Conolly MP said today that work on the $140 million upgrade of Schofields Road at Schofields will reach a new milestone with traffic scheduled to be moved onto new sections of the road from next week.
Traffic will be moved onto newly built sections of Schofields Road between Richmond Road and Veron Road from 5am on Friday 27 April, weather permitting, marking new progress on the project.
“The NSW Government is progressively upgrading Schofields Road to four lanes between Windsor and Richmond roads to improve capacity along this key east-west corridor in the North West Priority Land Release Area,” Mr Conolly said.
“New traffic lights will also be switched on at the intersections of Fermoy Road and Carnarvon Road.”
Mr Conolly said to prepare for the new traffic arrangements, night work and detours will be in place on 20, 22, 23 and 26 April 2018 between 8pm and 5am, weather permitting.
“Schofields Road between Richmond Road and Veron Road, and Carnarvon Road between Grange Avenue and Angus Road also will be temporarily closed,” Mr Conolly said.
To ensure the safety of workers and all road users, a temporary detour will be place while work is carried out, with access maintained for local people.
Motorists will be detoured via Garfield Road West, Grange Avenue and Townson Road.
Night work will also take place between Tallawong Road and Veron Road from Tuesday 24 to Monday 30 April 2018 to complete final asphalting and line marking. Night and after hours work between Richmond Road and Veron Road will continue till Friday 18 May 2018, weather permitting.
I wish to thank motorists in advance for their patience while staff at Roads and Maritime will continue to work closely with residents as the upgrade progresses.
