23 April 2018
Member for Barwon Kevin Humphries has advised that work has commenced to carry out maintenance and upgrade work on the Tilpa Bridge across the Darling River at Tilpa.
Kevin Humphries said the NSW Government has provided $400,000 for work which will involve bridge truss repairs, resetting, repainting and lubrication of the bridge bearings and rehabilitation of joints to improve the functionality of the bridge.
“Work will also involve maintenance activities including minor concrete repairs, installation of kerb returns for improved drainage, minor vegetation clearing, bridge deck sweeping and repairs to the bridge ends.
“Work will be carried out on weekdays and weekends between 6am and 6pm, weather permitting.
“To ensure repairs are completed as swiftly and safely as possible, the bridge will be closed to all traffic on 25, 26, 27 and 28 May. It will also be closed on 22, 23 and 24 June, weather permitting.
“Changed traffic conditions will be in place during work, including single lane closures closest to where work is taking place for the safety of workers and motorists.
“Motorist should plan their trip, allow extra travel time and follow the direction of all signs, including reduced speed limits of 40 km/h.
“Motorists are thanked for their patience during this important bridge upgrade work, which is due for completion at the end of June,” Kevin Humphries said.
