Changed traffic conditions on the New England Highway at Whittingham
28 May 2018
Michael Johnsen MP, Member for Upper Hunter advises motorists of changed traffic conditions from this Sunday on the New England Highway at Whittingham for safety improvement work to be carried out.
Work will involve building a northbound overtaking lane on the New England Highway, south of Racecourse Lane to improve safety for motorists.
Early work including road resurfacing will be carried out from Sunday 3 to Friday 8 June, weather permitting. To minimise traffic disruptions, work will be carried out at night between 7pm and 5am.
For the safety of motorists and workers, lane closure and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h will be in place. Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the direction of signs and traffic control.
Work to build the overtaking lane is expected to start in July, weather permitting.
Roads and Maritime Services thanks motorists for their patience during this time.
