Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra Gareth Ward has today announced that resurfacing work and line marking is about to be carried out on Mount Ousley Road to provide smoother and safer journeys for motorists.
Mr Ward said that the NSW Government is funding the $700,000 package of work between Mount Ousley and Fairy Meadow.
“Work will involve resurfacing and line marking the road between the roundabout at Gaynor Avenue and the roundabout at the Princes Highway,” he said.
“Roads and Maritime Services will carry out the important work at night when traffic volumes are lower to reduce disruptions to motorists.
“Work will take place from Wednesday 6th to Sunday 17th June between 8pm and 4am, excluding Fridays and Saturdays and the June long weekend, weather permitting.
“This work is funded as part of the NSW Government’s $1.5 billion annual maintenance program which aims to improve the State’s 18,028 kilometre road network.
“The government cares about getting all road users to and from their destination and quickly and safely as possible which is why this work is so important,” Mr Ward said.
“Mount Ousley Road will be closed to westbound traffic between the Princes Highway and the M1 Motorway during work hours.
“Detours will be in place via the Princes Highway and Memorial Drive and motorists should allow five minutes of additional travel time to get to their destination.
“Residents will have access at all times with short delays expected. I thank the local community for its patience whilst this important work takes place,” Mr Ward concluded.
