Safety work to start on Moss Vale Road at Cambewarra Mountain
6 June 2018
Member for Kiama Gareth Ward has today announced that changes to line marking on Moss Vale Road at Cambewarra Mountain are on the way to improve safety for motorists.
Mr Ward said that a safety review was recently carried out which recommended line marking be changed to improve safety for motorists while overtaking on the eastern side of the mountain.
“Line marking will be changed at one location to allow motorists another opportunity to overtake. There will also be changes at one other location to stop motorists from overtaking where it is not considered safe as visibility of oncoming motorists is limited,” he said.
“Changes were made to overtaking opportunities when the road was resurfaced in March and Roads and Maritime apologises this was carried out prior to completing a safety review.
“Work will be carried out from Tuesday 12th June for around three nights from 7pm to 5am, weather permitting and aims to reduce the incidence and severity of crashes at this location. No work will be carried out on Friday or Saturday night.
“This work will compliment recently completed road improvements which involved resurfacing, shoulder widening, installing guardrail and replacing drains near Kangaroo Valley Road.
“The NSW Government cares about getting all road users to their destinations as safely and efficiently as possible which is why this work is so vital.
“The NSW Government is funding the work as part of its $1.5 billion annual maintenance program which aims to improve our State’s 18,028 kilometre road and bridge network,” Mr Ward concluded.
