Changed conditions on Martin Bridge at Taree
29 June 2018
Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead advised motorists that Martin Bridge across the Manning River at Taree will be closed at night from Sunday 1st July while essential maintenance work is carried out.
Roads and Maritime Services will carry out the work which involves repairing and replacing steel beams, rivets and bolts on the bridge in preparation for future repainting work.
“To minimise impacts to traffic and to ensure safety of workers and motorists, work on the bridge will be carried out at night and will require a full bridge closure,” Mr Bromhead said.
“Work will be carried out from Sunday to Thursday nights between 7pm and 5am and is expected to be completed by early August, weather permitting.”
During the full bridge closures, motorists will be detoured through to the Pacific Highway at Cundletown which will add up to 17 kilometres or around 20 minutes extra travel time.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
Roads and Maritime thanks motorists for their patience during this time.
