NSW Government delivering for Strathfield
Wednesday 4 July 2018
Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Roads, Maritime and Transport Kevin Anderson and Duty MLC for Strathfield Scott Farlow today visited recently completed traffic improvements on the Hume Highway at Homebush Road at Strathfield.
Mr Anderson said the NSW Government delivered the improvements as part of its $300 million Urban Roads Pinch Points Program, which aims to reduce congestion and improve travel time on Sydney’s busiest corridors.
“Getting local residents to where they want to go more smoothly is a key aim of the pinch point program that will benefit Strathfield residents,” Mr Anderson said.
Mr Farlow said retaining parking near the intersection had been a key community concern before the work was carried out.
“I am pleased Roads and Maritime Services took on the community feedback about parking in the area and managed to retain 20 parking spaces and significantly improve traffic flow at this busy intersection,” Mr Farlow said.
The community is thanked for its patience while this important work was carried out.
- Work was completed and opened to traffic a month early
- Work included extending the right turn lane by about 120 metres westbound on Hume Highway
- Retention of 20 parking spaces on Homebush Road
- New signs and line marking.
