4 July 2018
Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Roads, Maritime and Transport Kevin Anderson, duty MLC for Granville Natasha Maclaren-Jones and duty MLC for Fairfield Lou Amato today visited an important road maintenance project in Sydney’s west.
The trio inspected the recently completed bus lane rejuvenation work between South Wentworthville and Merrylands.
Mr Anderson said the NSW Government funded the essential maintenance work under its $1.5 billion program to maintain and improve the 18,028 kilometre state road network.
“This is a government delivering on the mega projects such as upgrade of the new M4, M4 Smart motorway, Parramatta light rail and Sydney Metro west while also ensuring essential maintenance is carried out,” Mr Anderson said.
Ms Maclaren-Jones said ensuring our roads are maintained reduces wear and tear on vehicles and helps to reduce long term damage to roads from weather to make them safer, provide consistent driving conditions and reduce maintenance costs in the long term.
“Ms Maclaren-Jones said about 3.4 kilometres of road resurfacing and new line marking was completed on the bus lanes along Fairfield, Woodpark, Sherwood, Centenary and Old Prospect roads.
Mr Amato said the upgrade has improved safety and driving conditions and will also increase longevity of the road surface.
“Work was carried out at night to minimise delays for motorists and ensure locals are getting the quality roads they need without major inconvenience,” Mr Amato said
The community its thanked for its patience while this important work was carried out.
