Investigative work underway on M1 at Cataract
31 July 2018
Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra Gareth Ward MP has today announced that investigative work has started this week as part of plans to upgrade the M1 Princes Motorway between Picton Road and Bellambi Creek.
Mr Ward said that the upgrade to the M1 would improve road safety, travel time and efficiency and provide safer access for maintenance tasks to utility services.
“The road upgrade on the M1 Princes Motorway is being planned to improve journeys for motorists with an additional lane in each direction,” he said.
“This will create a six-lane divided road between Picton Road and Bellambi Creek, increasing the reliability of access into and out of the Illawarra region.
“As part of the investigations, Roads and Maritime Services will carry out survey work from 30th July 2018 to 31st August 2018 from 7am to 4:30pm on weekdays. The work will be carried out away from the road.
“Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow traffic control measures.
“I thank local motorists for their patience during this time. We will keep the local community informed as the project progresses,” Mr Ward said.
