Speed limit change on George Bass Drive at Tomakin

Member for Bega Andrew Constance is today encouraging motorists to slow down on George Bass Drive at Tomakin with a speed limit change to be implemented in the next fortnight, weather permitting.

“Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) carried out a speed zone review in response to community concerns,” Mr Constance said.

“The review assessed a number of factors including road environment, traffic characteristics and crash data.

“The existing 100km/h speed limit on George Bass Drive will be decreased to 80km/h from 150 metres north of Ainslie Parade to 40 metres north of Tomaga River

“The speed limit change will provide a safer road environment for all road users and will take into account the increased activity and development in the area.

“Work to install new signs and road markings is expected to be carried out from 25 March, weather permitting.

“Warning signs will be in place to advise motorists of the change and will remain for at least a week after the new speed limit signs have been installed.

“Members of the community can sign up at the safer roads NSW website to receive updates about changes to permanent speed limits in their nominated area and have their say on speed limits,” Mr Constance said.
