Mid Western Highway improvement work at Rankin Springs completed
5 September 2014
Minister for Roads and Freight Duncan Gay announced work to improve safety for motorists on the Mid Western Highway at Rankin Springs has been completed, about 90 kilometres west of West Wyalong.
Minister Gay said the NSW Government provided $1.2 million to widen the road and seal the shoulders on a 1.19 kilometre section of the highway.
The project also included $300,000 to build a new culvert. “Work included road resurfacing and improvements to the stormwater drainage to reduce the risk of flooding during times of high rainfall,” Minister Gay said.
“This work will reduce ongoing maintenance costs for the road which was built more than 40 years ago. “The work, which started in November last year, is part of the NSW Government’s commitment to provide safe and efficient journeys for motorists in south western NSW.
