Tenders called for Maitland roundabouts overpass
28 July 2014
Minister Gay said this project was part of the NSW Government’s $45 million Maitland roundabouts project.
“The Maitland roundabouts project being carried out at Church Street, near Maitland Railway Station and High Street, near Maitland Hospital and is funded through the Hunter Infrastructure and Investment Fund,” Minister Gay said.
“The project aims to improve safety and traffic flow, while catering for future traffic growth in this busy area.”
Ms Parker said as part of the project, an overpass will be built for eastbound traffic using the New England Highway.
“The overpass will carry two lanes above the Church Street roundabout and pass over the flood plain area to the north of the highway, at the eastern end of the bridge,” Ms Parker said.
“The bridge will be 430 metres long, connecting to the existing highway about 550 metres to the east and 400 metres to the west of the roundabout.
"The call for tenders is great news for road users and the local community, who are keen to see the project progress."
Tenders are invited from prequalified contractors for the building of road and bridge work and close at 2.30pm on Wednesday 13 September.
