Old Wallgrove Road upgrade
13 August 2014
Minister for Roads and Freight Duncan Gay today announced another win for Western Sydney with the contract to upgrade Old Wallgrove Road awarded to Daracon Contractors Pty Ltd.
“The upgrade of Old Wallgrove Road aims to improve access to the Western Sydney employment area and increase safety for all road users, including the many heavy vehicles travelling between the M7 and the M4,” Minister Gay said.
“The NSW Government has provided $95 million toward the upgrade which will include a new 400 metre link road and widening of the 1 kilometre section of Wallgrove Road at the M7 interchange.
“Work will also involve moving utilities, installing new traffic lights, retaining walls and street lighting, improving drainage and landscaping.
“In July last year, the NSW Government completed the 3.1 kilometre Erskine Park Link Road which has unlocked thousands of hectares of land for development and new employment.
Member for Smithfield Andrew Rohan said as Old Wallgrove Road links to Erskine Park Link Road, travel will be improved for all road users.
“These upgrades will build on safety improvements already delivered by the new road which is redirecting trucks from residential streets to the M7 and M4 motorways,” Mr Rohan said.
“Upgrade work is expected to start in October and be finished in mid-2016 with sections to be progressively opened as quickly as possible.” “We will continue to keep the community informed of work hours in advance.”
