Contract awarded for new Tabulam Bridge
24 April 2017
Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight Melinda Pavey and Member for Lismore Thomas George have announced the delivery of the new Tabulam Bridge over the Clarence River is progressing with the awarding the contract to Delaney Civil Pty Ltd for the next stage of the project.
Mrs Pavey said Delaney Civil would build the new Tabulam Bridge in addition to carrying out road work to realign the approaches from the Bruxner Highway.
“Tabulam Bridge forms part of the Bruxner Highway, which provides the main connection for road users including heavy vehicles between the Northern Rivers and Northern Tablelands regions.”
Member for Lismore Thomas George said the existing bridge can only accommodate a single lane of traffic, but the new bridge will provide motorists with one lane in either direction.
“The new bridge will improve road transport productivity and traffic efficiency, and the inclusion of a separate footpath will improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
“Separate work will be carried out to remove the existing bridge once the new structure has opened to traffic.“
Roads and Maritime will continue to keep the community updated as the project progresses.
