Budget invests in Southern Sydney

The 2017-18 NSW Budget will deliver major investments to hospitals, schools, roads and transport in the St George and Sutherland Shire area, including $56 million towards the ongoing St George Hospital Redevelopment.In addition, St George Hospital Car Park will receive $4m for an upgrade and Sutherland Hospital will receive $9.4m in funding to continue its expansion.

Key highlights from the 2017-18 Budget include:

  • $56 million in 2017-18 towards the ongoing St George Hospital Redevelopment – Acute Services Building and planning money for the next stage of the project
  • $4.3 million investment towards St George Hospital Car Park
  • $9.5 million towards the ongoing Sutherland Hospital Expansion
  • $14.1 million planning money towards the WestConnex Southern F6 extension
  • $1.5 million to commence construction of traffic improvements on the Princes Highway at President Avenue
  • $1 million for the planning of upgrade of King Georges Road between Stoney Creek Road and Connells Point Road
  • $7.6 million for improvements at Narwee Train Station and planning money for Beverly Hills Train Station Commuter Parking
  • $3.9 million towards the Great Southern Nature Walk in the Wattamolla Visitor Precinct
  • Deliver on road cycleway and share path from Old Princes Highway to Rawson Ave Sutherland as part of the $62m Cycling and Walking Program
  • $1.9 million to complete investigations and commence design of traffic improvements on King Georges Road at Connells Point Road and Stoney Creek Road
  • Delivery of shared path Joadja Road, Prestons as part of the $62m Cycling and Walking Program
  • Planning money towards the Casula Train Station Commuter Car Parking
  • $2.9 million towards the planning for upgrade of Heathcote Road between Infantry Parade, Hammondville and The Avenue, Pleasure Point
  • Planning money towards the Easy Access Upgrade at Como Train Station
