Helping learners become safer drivers - Bellingen workshop
2 March 2018
Learner-driver parents and supervisors are invited to attend a free workshop on how to provide an effective and safe practice session for learner drivers.
The Member for Oxley, Melinda Pavey MP, said Roads and Maritime Services will be holding a ‘Helping Learner Drivers Become Safer Drivers’ workshop on Thursday 15 March from 5.30pm to 7.30pm - at the Bellingen Youth Hub on the corner of Church and William streets in Bellingen.
“Parents and supervisors play a vital role in providing young drivers the experience they need to be safe on the roads. This course has been developed to help them teach with confidence so they can help learner drivers be safe on the road,” Mrs Pavey said.
“The course also reinforces the important role families play in providing ongoing support for young motorists in their early years of driving.”
The two hour workshop includes information about licence conditions for learner and P plate drivers, tips for using the learner driver log book and the importance of providing constructive feedback.
“Parents and supervisors who have attended the course found it boosted their confidence and helped them better plan driving lessons, while also giving them the opportunity to share their experiences with other parents and supervisors,” Mrs Pavey said.
