Changes to Green Valley school zone
8 February 2012
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) has made changes to the Green Valley Public School 40km/h school zone to improve safety for students.
“The school zone on Green Valley Road has been extended 67 metres west and now includes 25 metres of Hewison Avenue, south of Green Valley Road,” an RMS spokesperson said.
The spokesperson said the changes were made in response to concerns raised by the school.
“RMS carried out a review after teachers and residents said the school zone started very close to one of the school’s gates,” the spokesperson said.
“The investigation showed the existing signs for eastbound traffic approaching the school zone were hard to see because of a hill crest and could be relocated to a better position.
“The new school zone signs are positioned more prominently, which means motorists are able to see the approaching zone more easily and slow down to create a safer environment for students.”
Motorists are reminded to stay alert and obey speed limit signs at all times.
