Hawkesbury River: Cliff diving event exclusive use
31 January 2012
Roads and Maritime Services has granted an exclusive use aquatic licence for the safe staging of a six-day cliff diving event which started today.
Maritime Services Acting Regional Manager Hawkesbury/ Broken Bay Hendrik Clasie said between 7am and 7pm on each day including Saturday, 4 February, boaters should keep clear of the area on the Hawkesbury River at Swallow Rock Reach opposite Riverside Oaks golf course, Ebenezer.
“This area will be used exclusively for the safe staging of cliff diving practice and competition for Red Bull Australia,” Mr Clasie said.
“The area will be marked by red buoys.”
“For safety reasons, skippers should keep clear of this area as it will be restricted for the event and patrolled by control vessels.”
Mr Clasie said unauthorised vessels would not be permitted to enter the exclusive use area unless authorised by event organisers, a NSW Maritime Boating Safety Officer or a Police Officer.
