Cudgen Creek: Exclusive Use this Sunday
15 February 2012
Roads and Maritime Services has granted an exclusive use aquatic licence for the safe staging of a swim event at Cudgen Creek, Kingscliff, this Sunday (19 February).
Maritime Regional Manager North Coast James Green said boaters should keep clear of the waters of Cudgen Creek between Faulks Park, Marine Parade, Cudgen and an area about 1.5 kilometres upstream towards the road bridge and the adjacent Jack Julius Park from 6.15am to 10am.
“This area will be used exclusively for the safe staging of the swim leg of a triathlon event organised by QSMSPORTS,” Mr Green said.
“The area will be marked by buoys.”
“For safety reasons, skippers should keep clear of this area as it will be restricted for the event and patrolled by control vessels.”
Mr Green said unauthorised vessels would not be permitted to enter the exclusive use area unless authorised by event organisers, a Maritime Boating Safety Officer or a Police Officer.
