New traffic lights at upgraded Dee Why intersection
29 February 2012
Pedestrians and motorists are enjoying the benefits of a new set of traffic lights at the upgraded intersection of Pittwater Road and Lismore Avenue at Dee Why.
“The project to upgrade the intersection involved installing the lights, a pedestrian-activated crossing, road resurfacing and building a right turn bay for southbound traffic on Pittwater Road,” a Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said.
“The work is part of the Northern Beaches Busway Strategy and will complement other bus priority work which has been carried out to improve bus travel times and service reliability on the northern beaches.
“It is the final link in a five kilometre long AM bus lane which extends from Narrabeen to the Dee Why shops.
“The project will not only improve service for bus users, but will improve the safety of motorists and pedestrians using the intersection.”
Work on the $2.6 million project was funded by the NSW Government.
