Richmond River: Exclusive Use this weekend
1 March 2012
Roads and Maritime Services has granted an exclusive use aquatic licence for the safe staging of water ski races this weekend on the Richmond River.
Maritime Regional Manager North Coast James Green said boaters should keep clear of the Richmond River between Coraki and Woodburn about 800 metres upstream of the Woodburn Road bridge and extending 20km upstream, finishing at Coraki, from 11am to 5pm on Saturday and 8am to 2pm on Sunday.
This area will be used exclusively for the safe staging of a water ski race organised by the Tweed River Water Ski Club,” Mr Green said.
“For safety reasons, skippers should keep clear of this area as it will be restricted for the event and patrolled by control vessels.”
Mr Green said unauthorised vessels would not be permitted to enter the exclusive use area unless authorised by event organisers, a Maritime Boating Safety Officer or a Police Officer.
